PseudoPod 721: Teeth – Part 1
PseudoPod has just published the first part of a two-part reading of my story “Teeth” (linked above). More than 20 years ago, this was my first published story, and now it has become my first story to be produced for an audio presentation. In what amounts to a two-decade cosmic alignment, the narrator is none other than Jon Padgett, who 1) served as my first editor when he provided valuable input on an original version of “Teeth” that led me to make some needed changes to the text, and B) became the story’s first publisher when he posted it at the then-new Thomas Ligotti Online, created by him, back in 1998.
“Teeth” went on to be published in The Children of Cthulhu (Del Rey, 2002) — thus becoming my first print publication, too — and then my Dark Awakenings collection (2010) and, most recently, my To Rouse Leviathan (2019).
Jon’s reading is moody and focused, and it brings out many important emotional and philosophical tones and beats. Also, in keeping with PseudoPod’s standard practice, the full text of the story (or at least its first half, for now) is published with the audio version.
The second and final part will follow shortly.
